Overview

Under the direction of the Wound Care nurse(s), prepares patients for treatment including taking and recording medical histories, chief complaints, vital signs, height and weight. Assists with treatment including removing old dressings and cleaning and dressing of wounds per MA scope of practice. Maintains supply inventory per par levels and ensures treatment rooms are stocked adequately. Cleans and maintains equipment per infection control standards. Ensures that all treatment notes and orders are scanned for coding purposes, and monitors recertification's to ensure patient treatments are not interrupted.

Responsibilities

Assists with Wound Care treatments including removing old dressings and cleaning and dressing wounds per MA scope of practice.

 

Coordinates patient schedules with the Patient Access team. Monitors Wound Care schedule, checking daily for repeats, missing appointments.

 

Maintains supply inventory per par levels and ensures treatment rooms are stocked adequately.

 

Ensures that equipment is maintained, cleaned per infection control standards and in good working order.

 

Manages charting system to include preparing, organizing new charts, archiving charts upon patient discharge and preparing charts for Fort Docs.

 

Coordinates bandage delivery needs for patients

 

Coordinates care for Ancillary Services and ensures that reports are filed in charts

 

Monitors recertification process to ensure that patients continue to be seen without interruption of services

 

Weekly Audits to ensure that Wound Care Treatment Notes, Orders and Charge Sheets are scanned into One Content in a timely manner so as to not interrupt coding and billing processes.

 

Provides back up Medical Assisting to Occupational Health and other Physician Clinics

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: One to Two Years Experience in Medical Office Setting or Outpatient Clinic

Licenses & Certifications: MA Certificate from the State of California, Phlebotomist certification preferred, Current BLS.

Required Skills & Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Medical terminology and procedures, Strong interpersonal skills, Basic office procedures and ability to work on personal computer, Strong organizational skills, ability to manage priorities and workflow while multi-tasking, Versatility, flexibility, and multitasking a must. Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and from various backgrounds, Understand and respond to a diverse population. Bilingual preferred. 

Compensation

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to level of experience, education, special skills and/or certifications.

Minimum:

USD $23.43

Maximum:

USD $30.47
